Proven performance against ultrafine particles

Ultrafine particles are smaller than 0.1 microns. By sheer number, about 90% of all airborne particles are this size. The primary source of ultrafine particles is combustion from motor vehicles, refineries, industrial plants and even cooking. Viruses are also ultrafine particles. The small size of ultrafine particles enables them to be easily inhaled, deposited into the lungs and absorbed into the blood. They have been linked to heart attacks, strokes, asthma and even cancer.

Manufacturers of ordinary air filtration systems claim only that their systems filter particles larger than 0.3 microns. IQAir is different. IQAir’s HyperHEPA filtration in the GC MultiGas is proven and certified to filter at least 95% of all particles down to 0.003 microns – the smallest particles that exist. Independent testing by laboratories and government agencies verifies the effectiveness of IQAir technology against ultrafine particles. Certified performance

No GC MultiGas air purifier will be shipped from the factory unless it is certified to provide a minimum of 99% efficiency against particles.

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity

A significant number of individuals suffer from Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS), characterized by elevated sensitivities to household chemicals. Symptoms can include eye irritation, wheezing, fatigue, rhinitis, sore throat or cough, skin rashes and other symptoms. The best strategy for treating MCS is to avoid the airborne contaminants and chemicals that trigger the illness and reactions. Because indoor air pollution concentrations are typically much higher than outdoor air pollution levels, “air-filtration devices that remove both particulate and chemical substances from breathable indoor air usually benefit MCS patients considerably,” one leading medical expert concluded.

Reviewers rate IQAir air purifiers as the best systems available for MCS sufferers. HyperHEPA particle filtration: The first stage of filtration features a powerful HyperHEPA® pre-filter that removes particles of all sizes, including ultrafine particles.
Cartridge-based activated carbon adsorption: Highest-grade activated carbon is used to filter volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are responsible for odours.
Cartridge-based chemisorption: This stage destroys harmful chemicals, such as formaldehyde, by an oxidation process inside a chemically active alumina pellet.
Post-filter sleeve: A post-filter sleeve wraps each gas cartridge to prevent media dust from being released.

The New Edition has an average of 7% less sound across all fan speeds, without sacrificing filter life or system efficiency. You can now have clean, healthy air without disrupting your environment with noise. Our “fan-in-center” design places the fan motor between sound-attenuating filters. The double-walled housing effectively reduces sound transmission. Rubber suspension pads systematically isolate motor vibration from the air cleaner housing. The EvenFlow Diffuser deflects sounds back into the system while returning low turbulence and low velocity air to your room. The result is an air purifier quiet enough for your bedroom.

Energy efficient

The IQAir New Edition costs very little to operate. It only requires about as much power as a conventional light bulb. At the very heart of these air purifiers is the ultra-efficient IQAir New Edition fan and its maintenance-free motor. This amazing powerhouse requires as little as 20 watts of power at the lowest speed and up to a maximum of 135 watts at the highest speed. As a result, it costs only pennies per day to operate.

HyperHEPA® filtration

The H11 HyperHEPA pre-filter in the New Edition GC MultiGas system removes particles of all sizes, including ultrafine particles down to 0.003 microns. This includes allergens, smoke, bacteria and viruses. Also, each gas-phase cartridge in the GC MultiGas is wrapped with a micro-charged post-filter sleeve that removes any additional particles released from the activated carbon adsorption and alumina pellet chemisorption media. The pre-filter and post-filter sleeves work together to deliver a Total System Efficiency of 99% at 0.3 microns or larger, and 95% of all particles down to 0.003 microns.

3D UltraSeal™

The efficiency stated for most air cleaners is purely theoretical. Internal leakage drastically reduces the actual efficiency of most air cleaners. IQAir systems feature patented triple sealing technology. First, a unique manufacturing process ensures that the filter media is 100 percent sealed in the filter frame. Second, our patented 3D UltraSeal ensures perfect knife-edge-in-groove sealing between filter frame and housing. Third, individual seals on each housing module ensure an airtight housing. As a result, IQAir systems have a total system efficiency that is higher than the theoretical efficiency of conventional air cleaners.

New Edition fan

The New Edition features the most powerful fan ever used in a compact room air purifier. That power translates into even better air cleaning results. The new three-dimensionally optimized design now uses state-of-the-art aerodynamics to convert energy into more air and less noise. IQAir systems use the highest quality fan motor available. This fan has an astonishing 1200 m³/h rating. Because each fan is individually balanced and uses steel ball bearings, it outlasts other fans by years. The IQAir New Edition fan is suspended in a separate module that isolates the fan from the housing with eight shock absorbers to further reduce noise.

The best media for superior filtration

The GC MultiGas features the best media in the industry combined with superior filter design to provide an unequaled level of protection against gases, odours, and chemicals. The four disposable gas-phase filter cartridges of the GC MultiGas feature 5.4 kg of the highest-grade activated carbon from bituminous coal, not the lower-quality coconut-shell carbon others use. IQAir also does not use zeolite, another less effective and less expensive filtration medium. Alumina pellets impregnated with potassium permanganate remove formaldehyde from the air. The cylindrical shape of the GC MultiGas cartridges allows for optimal contact between the air and the filtration media, while offering very low air restriction. Meanwhile, post filters wrap each cylinder, preventing any media dust from being released while further improving overall system efficiency.

3-Year warranty

The IQAir GC MultiGas air purifier is an investment in clean air for many years to come. Like all of our air purifiers, each GC MultiGas air purifier is manufactured at our factory in Switzerland to demanding standards that are the highest in the industry. And each system is thoroughly tested and its performance verified before it leaves the factory (see above). As a result, IQAir is proud to cover the GC MultiGas for a full three (3) years against defects in parts and labour. Filters are consumables and exempt from this warranty.
